Yesterday was Dan’s 26th birthday (yea we’re getting old), so what better way to celebrate escaping our adult lives back home than eating lots of sweet treats and dodging dinosaurs?
Although this has nothing to do with Melbs, I’m just super proud of what I managed to cook, so here’s a picture of breaky/brunch. Complete with cute dog from our current house-sit (want to know more about why we house-sit besides the obvious doggo-minding? Read more here!)
We made fluffy buttermilk pancakes with streaky bacon, syrup, fruit and a side of scrambled eggs. The morning was topped off by opening care packages from home and eating our body-weight in English chocolate, we’d forgotten how good home chocolate was – it just doesn’t taste the same here!
We then walked from our house-sit in Northcote to Brunswick to X-CAPE escape rooms. We did the “Jurrassic Lab” themed challenge which took you through a few little rooms in order to escape the unfortunate fate of Dr. X (poor bloke) and escape the man-eating dinosaurs. The rooms go from easy and get harder as you go on with various little puzzles to take you to the next steps and eventually off the island to freedom!
What: X-CAPE Escape Rooms
Time: 60 minutes (allow some time to check bags in and for your photoshoot afterwards!)
We then jumped on a tram and headed into the city to the Lindt Cafe on Collins Street. There are a couple about in and around Melbourne and they’re well worth a visit! Obviously you have to get everything chocolate, we opted for the signature waffles and of course Dan got the Lindt Excellence 70% dark chocolate ice cream with hot chocolate fudge sauce. Definitely a death by chocolate moment and we’ve had our sweet fix for the next six months!
There’s also a great little shop attached which was perfect for our Chrissy shopping.
What: Lindt Cafe
Where: Collins Street CBD, Chadstone Shopping Centre, Southgate Southbank, Spencer Outlet Centre Docklands
Menu: Check out all the incredible options here
To round off the day we went to the Melina Rooftop Restaurant, a cute Greek restaurant with delicious Mezze options and some great BBQ ribs! We were right on the view side and watched as the sun went down and the city lit up around us. Reasonably priced be sure to get a few dishes to enjoy maximum flavour.
What: Melina on the Roof restaurant
Where: Lonsdale Street, CBD
Menu: lunch , cocktail and dinner menu here (we recommend the ribs and the zucchini fritters!)
